Fly fishing here on
the Trinity River for steelhead has been hot and cold. On days with rain and cloud cover we do great and on clear cold days
we stuggle. We have hooked adults everyday but some days it's only 2 or 3. Last friday it rained and we hooked
over 10. So thats steelhead fishing ! As I write this its raining, and I am excited that the next few days
we have some storms in the forecast. The blood on my finger in this picture is not from this fat wild hen,
it is mine from a hook stick, occupational hazard I guess. Fish on ! Steve

Steelhead fishing here
on the Trinity River has been good. On a good day were hooking around 10 fish. But a couple days ago we got our first skunk
of the season, oh well thats fishing. The river is crowded so Im doing my best to hide out and most days its worked.
The river blewout below Canyon Creek yesterday with that little rain we had, and it was just what the river needed. Im
excited to get out there today to see if more fish moved up. The river claimed its first boat of the steelhead season yesterday
here in Junction City. The guys made it out of the river and got thier boat back, they were lucky.

We have given up on
the salmon fishing here on the upper river this season. The steelhead fishing is great, so thats what we are fishing for.
The flows are really low so I will be switching to the raft next week. Fish on! Steve

Again sorry for the
lack of reports, but I was hunting mule deer in Oregon for the last couple weeks. From what I hear I didnt miss much as the
fishing had been slow. I was back on the river friday and saturday this week and we did great on steelhead not so great
on king salmon, we did catch and release our first Coho salmon of this season. We should have another push of fresh fall
salmon in the next couple weeks, and steelhead fishing should be good through the season. Fish on Steve

Salmon fishing here on the
Trinity River is going great. We have been hooking between 6 and 15 Kings each day, some have been dark spring run fish, but
most are fresh fall run. Big fish in my boat so far was a 24lber, but Im sure there are lots bigger fish out there. We are
getting a few steelies mixed in also. We have a few open dates for late October that will fill up fast. Fish on! Steve

Fishing here on the
Trinity river has been great! The fall run salmon are showing up with a few steelhead mixed in. We have been catching about
half fresh fall fish and half dark spring run fish. Most of the fall fish are 12-17lbs with a couple over 20lbs. Last weekend
the Klamath River was fishing great also, so we have plenty of fish on their way here. We have guides with open dates to fish,
but they are filling fast. Fish On! Steve
Just like the construction industry has
unlicensed contractors, some "fly by night" guides try to guide fishing trips here on the Trinity River without
permits. If you book with a guide make sure they are permitted. All permitted guides shall have the above sticker on there
boat NO exceptions. The main reason for permits is that the guides maintain liability insurance. Protect yourself and only
support permitted guides. BLM has a complete list of permitted guides .

The fishing remains
tough here on the Trinity, we are averaging 1 fish per boat. Today my clients canceled so I hit the river by myself and ended
up with this small salmon. Lets hope next week is better.

Salmon fishing here
on the Trinity River has been tough. We are getting 2-4 grabs a day on plugs, most days we do land a fish or two. Yesterday
we saw a couple schools of fish on the move up river. Not as many as I would like to see, but seeing any fish is a good sign.
Fishing presure has been light, and the entire upper river has fish. Hopefully next week we will see more springers move through. The DFG has predicted 500 thousand king salmon returning to the Trinity/ Klamath system this fall. Our fall calendar
is filling fast if you want to fish with us book early! Fish on ! Steve
Happy Fathers Day!
I was delighted
to guide a father and son today, we had a fun day on the river. The fishing is still a little slow, but we did land one
nice 12lb Salmon and a bunch of dinks. The fishing should improve in the next couple weeks, and we have some open dates for
july.

Spring run salmon
fishing on the Trinity River has arrived. And yes we can keep Salmon!!! Were not seeing lots of fish as it is still early,
and most of the fish we see are in high gear for up river. Today I feel we did well landing 2 about 9lbs each. More fish are
on the way and the dam release is a pleasant 700 cfs. Fish on! Steve

Yes there is salmon fishing
in California!! There are a few fish in the river with more on the way. The higher flows helped some fish get to the upper
river a little sooner this year. Limits are 2 adults and 1 jack per day. We have open dates as most people think there
is no salmon fishing again this year. Call or email to book a trip. Fish on! Steve

The Sac was tough this
week with high winds and increased flows. The Cypress bridge area is closed to boat traffic, so we have been floating south
Redding down to Balls Ferry. The weather should settle down to warm sunny days next week and the fishing will improve. The Trinity River flow schedual is out and it looks like we will be on the river looking for spring run Salmon in
mid June.
The last couple weeks we did
one trip here on the Trinity River with good results. But most of my time has been spent down on the Sacramento River from
Redding to Anderson. These fat rainbows are great fun, with most days we hook 10 or more fish. I will be guiding on the Sac
until we start our spring salmon season in June. Check out “the Sac” page we added to this site.

Our winter steelhead
run has been great. We caught big fresh fish almost every day, not alot of them but enough. Although I think the run
is about done. Monday we hooked 1 fresh wild steelhead and one brown trout and I didnt see many other fish. This
spring we will be fishing here on the Trinity for browns and the Sacramento river for rainbows. Spring Turkey hunting
is just a couple weeks away. And yes as it looks the Trinity river will again have a salmon season this year. We
are now booking Sacramento River Rainbows and Spring run Chinook salmon trips (salmon trips should start in june). Good fishing

Yes were still catching
steelies here on the Trinity. Not much has changed, work hard and get a few fish. We have a little weather in the forecast
this week but it dosent look like much. And yes we have openings next week. Fish on! Steve

The Trinity River is fishing
very well. We are in a warm dry weather patern and the fish are eating. In the last three trips we have fought 30 adults and
1 halfpounder on flys. We are getting our best action the last hour of daylight each day. I have a couple open days early
next week if you want to get in on this great fishing. The weather forecast calls for more of the same for the next ten days. Fish On! Steve

Steelhead fishing here on
the Trinity River has been great one day and tough the next. We had a few warm days last week and the river fished well, it
got cold over the weekend and fishing was slow. Paul pictured above fished hard for a day and a half hooking several fish
but not landing one until this big buck. This fish was 32" long with 18" of girth. Using the equation for steelhead
and salmon (length X girth squared divided by 800) this fish was 13 lbs, great job Paul. He caught the fish on a size 14 prince
nymph with 4x tippet. As I write this report it is snowing here in Junction City, the forecast calls for better weather
after today. I do have openings next week if you want to get in a day of winter steelheading.
Fish On! Steve

HAPPY
NEW YEAR !
Dont forget your new fishing license and steelhead card for 2009.
The Trinity River got a flush yesterday as the weather warmed up a little. When we put on the river was higher
with about 3 feet of visibility. By the afternoon the color was almost back to clear. The last few trips fishing has been
good but not great, as we landed a few fish every day. This week should be good with warmer weather and a few showers in
the forecast. All of the coastal rivers are blown out with this last storm so we may see a little more boat traffic
here until they clear up.
Cheers !
Steve

12/24/2008 Merry
Christmas ! The Trinity River is fishing good. Reports from other guides fishing from Lewiston to Del Loma are
good as well. The weather has been wet with rain and snow, but so far we have had minimal chain requirements. The river
is still low and clear, hopefully that will change with this storm. It looks like next week we will get a few warm dry days,
fishing should be great. I have some open dates next week and into the new year. Fish On! Steve

Fishing has slowed
a little last week, although we did hook fish everyday. 90% of our landed fish have been big native steelhead. Yesterday
we had our first snow of the season making it a cold day on the river. Last night we got more snow keeping us off the river
today. The forecast calls for more storms to hit us this week, which is just what we need.
Fish On !

Steelheading here on the Trinity River has not changed. As we have had no rain in weeks. In the last few trips we have
hooked 2 fish on our worst day and 10 fish on our best. If there is a good side the fishing pressure is way down,
most floats have only a few boats each day. Fish On Steve

Hello fishermen
Sorry for the lack of reports, dial up is really slow.
Steelhead fishing here on the Trinity River can be good
one day and tough the next. There are a few fish throughout the river but not the great numbers we had last year. So we are
back to normal steelheading, work hard and maybe catch a few. We can sure use some rain, as the river is low and clear. We have boats available almost everyday.
